I felt like sooner or later I had to say that to you guys, seeing as I’m from Texas and all. I know, I know…I’m in Tennessee now. But there’s an old saying: You can take the boy out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the boy. I don’t know if that’s true, since it would be awfully hard to fit the entire state of Texas into the body of one single boy, but it sounds good so I’ll use it here.
Anyway, none of that is important. What is important is this: Lyrical Darkness is going up for pre-order on June 1st, and will be released outright on June 15th. I believe I told you guys about that last time, right? How it’s a collection of short stories inspired by iconic songs and such, right? Yes, well the editor just emailed out PDF previews, and said the project is on schedule. So yay! 🙂 I’ll be sure and post a link to the pre-order page here when it is up.
In other news, I am returning to work on 79 A.D. tonight. I was not able to get much work done on the revisions last week because of house issues. Some of you may know that my wife and I have put our old house up for sale. I’ve been doing a lot of work on it to get it ready to hit the market, and last week I was there until the wee hours for several nights straight. It was not fun. Certainly not as fun as revisions. That might be a joke, but I’m not sure. My mind is a bit wonky from all that paint and sawdust.
In any case, tonight marks my return to the revisions. I have secured 10 or 12 readers for reviews (blogs and a few individuals) and will be sending out review copies in a little over a week. This is the part where I start to get very nervous. Despite the praise from my editor, I always feel like I write crap. It’s true. I do. I often have to give myself “Permission to write crap” just so I can pound out the next chapter. Some of you who are writers will no doubt understand that phrase, while others are probably wondering how anyone could ever want to write crap.
Well, it’s hard to explain, so I’m not going to. 😛 At least not today. I’ll save that for another post.
For now, I need to get to work. But keep an eye on this spot, folks. News of Lyrical Darkness and 79 A.D. will keep getting posted here and on my Facebook page. Someday I might even post something new on Twitter. Maybe. Probably not, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.
